Mossley Academy earned a 2-2 at League leaders Runcorn Linnets on Thursday but were disappointed not to take all three points after leading 2-0 at the break.

In a very even start to the game ,Mossley took the lead after Tcherno Djalo was adjudged to have been brought down in the box and Tcherno put the resultant penalty away in the 19th minute.

Runcorn where playing some excellent football, but the Lilywhites stood firm and always looked dangerous on the break and in the 40th minute Tcherno Djalo was put through on the left wing, leaving the Runcorn defenders in his wake cutting in and finishing superbly into the far corner to give the Mossley boys a two goal half time lead.

As expected a well drilled Runcorn team came out fighting in the second half and pulled a goal back on 50 minutes

The Mossley boys had to defend for long periods but still looked dangerous on the break with substitute Ryan Williams seeing a thirty yard shot come back off the crossbar and Sahwo Karbah having a shot from a tight angle nearly catching the home keeper out,

Runcorn finally got an equaliser in the dying minutes when a Mossley defender was harshly adjudged to have handled the ball, when a shot driven at him came off his leg and hit his arm.

The resultant free kick from the edge of the area was superbly curled over the wall and into the Mossley net to leave the score at 2 goals each.

Overall, another hard working performance keeping the Mossley boys unbeaten record intact ,against a Runcorn team who showed why they are top of the division going towards the Xmas Break.
